YAZMINE ROMERO (2017) COMMITS TO

YOUNGSTOWN STATE UNIVERSITY

I had no idea what to expect when I stepped foot on the Youngstown State campus, but when I did, I was in complete awe of how beautiful it was and how amazing the athletic facilities were.  The coaches were very welcoming and the team seemed like a close-knit family that I cannot wait to be a part of.  The way Coach Campbell preached about academics before athletics made me realize that Youngstown State is the perfect fit for me.  I understand that it is a privilege to play at the next level, and I will be honored and humbled to wear a Youngstown State jersey.  I feel very blessed that God has given me the opportunity to play college softball. I would like to thank Coaches Haley, Jess and Jen for helping make my dream come true because without them this would have never been possible.  I would also like to thank my parents for introducing me to softball and working with me and supporting me every step of the way.  I cannot wait to be a Penguin!

CONGRATULATIONS YAZZY!!!

WE ARE SO HAPPY THAT YOU FOUND THE PERFECT FIT.

DANI KAZAKOFF (2016) COMMITS TO

UC SAN DIEGO

As I was told many times that the college process is unique for everyone, I finally understood it when I made my decision to go to UCSD. This was a very long process for me and my family but being where I am today I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. As time went on and most of my teammates were getting signed to schools, it definitely became a little nerve-racking and scary. We were encouraged since the beginning to trust the system and were promised that it would all work out in the end. They were spot on! I can honestly say UCSD is the perfect fit for me and I couldn’t be any happier with my decision.  As I created my pro and con list, I quickly realized it couldn’t be more obvious that UCSD was where I was meant to be.  I can’t stress enough how much I appreciate everything Haley, Jess, and Frank have done for me and all the support I have received from my Nuggets sisters. As amazing as it feels to have made my decision, the feeling is even more enhanced because of the support and excitment of all my teammates, their parents, my coaches, and my family.  I'm so blessed to be a UCSD Triton!!!

EMMA WAGER (2016) COMMITS TO

BETHANY COLLEGE KANSAS

Ever since I started playing softball at the age of four,  I knew I wanted to play in college. When I visited Bethany College, I realized it was the right school for me. Everything about the school was so welcoming. As soon as I stepped on the softball field, I felt like I belonged. The team made me feel comfortable, even though they had no clue who I was or anything about me. After I practiced with the team, I wanted to skip senior year and stay on campus and enroll right then. The team, coaches, and the school community are the reasons why I chose Bethany. I can't wait to be a Swede.

FALL COACHING UPDATES:

Cal Nuggets president Haley Woods is excited to announce some changes for the Fall 2015 season.  As the Nuggets move into our third full year, Haley is constantly searching for innovative ways to make the Nuggets stronger in every age group and for ways to maintain our environment where all players can grow, compete and succeed while finding their perfect college fit.

18 GOLD:

The Nuggets are thrilled to announce that Coach JEN CHAMBERLIN and Coach CASSIE MORALES will be leading our 18 Gold program beginning this fall.  Jen comes to the Nuggets with eight years of experience as a NCAA Division 1 softball coach.  Jen coached at The University of Pittsburgh, North Carolina State, Coastal Carolina, St. Mary's College, and Youngstown State.  Jen had a very successful playing career at NC State and with the National Pro Fastpitch league.  Jen brings a wealth of softball knowledge with her as well as many years of college softball connections.  Cassie brings nine years of coaching experience and most recently led our Cal Nuggets 14u Gold team to the PGF Platinum National Championship.  Cassie had an outstanding playing career at Syracuse University and has had a hugely successful coaching career.  We are excited to see what these two can bring to our 18 Gold program.

16U:

Coach HALEY WOODS, Coach FRANK FANO and Coach GEORGE MARSHALL will continue to anchor our highly successful 16u program.  Haley is going into her tenth season of coaching and has enjoyed much success as a coach at both the travel ball and collegiate level.  George is going into his thirteenth year of coaching and has lead his teams to many National Tournament apprearances in his career.  Frank has twenty years of coaching experience and has coached many successful teams during his career.  Haley had a storied career as a Cal Bear playing in three College World Series and two National Championship games.  Haley's elite level experience and unmatched connections to college coaches are what continue to separate her as one of the best coaches and recruiters in the country.

14U:

The Nuggets are extremely excited to announce that Coach ROBIN FLIER, Coach CASSIE MORALES and Coach KERI FRANKS will be heading up our tremendously successful 14u program.  With college recruiting legitimately happening in the 14u age group, we are so fortunate that coaches with the recruiting experience of Robin, Cassie and Keri will be managing our 14u program. Robin has ten years of coaching experience, mainly at the 18 gold level and has helped hundreds of players find their dream school.  Cassie recently led our 14u team to the PGF Platinum National Championship and Keri helped to lead our 16u team to a PGF Premier appearance.  We can't wait to see what Robin, Cassie and Keri can do this fall to make our 14u program even stronger.

*14u team has a returning berth into PGF Premier Nationals for summer 2016

12U:

Coaches LECEE NORIEGA, ED FLORES, and JAIME NORIEGA will continue to lead our 12u program.  These three coaches have over thirty years of combined coaching experience.  The Cal Nuggets are so blessed to have coaches at the 12u level with so many years of experience, so much passion for teaching the game, and such an impressive coaching resume.  These coaches have proven that they have what it takes to build and maintain a successful 12u program.

THE NUGGETS ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO A VERY SUCCESSFUL FALL SEASON!!!!

NICOLE MARINO (2016) COMMITS TO

UC SANTA BARBARA

When I was younger I never thought playing college softball could actually be a reality, let alone for a school like UC Santa Barbara. As soon as I stepped onto the field at my first camp back in 2013 I knew that that UCSB was the school I wanted to work tirelessly to get into. The impressive science program, beautiful beachside location, amazing coaching staff, and energetic atmosphere were the aspects that made UCSB stand out among all the other schools that I had visited. Without the guidance and support of my coaches Haley, Frank, and Jess, as well as my family, I would’ve never been able to achieve my goal. I am truly thankful for these people and blessed to be a future Gaucho.

CONGRATS COLE.......SO HAPPY YOUR DREAM IS COMING TRUE.

It took me four years to find Whittier, but only one fall season with the Nuggets for everything to fall in place. Haley and Jess have put so much time and effort into making it all possible, I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them. Thank you to Robin and Smoke for my first season with the Nuggets, you’ve made it very memorable. Lastly, thank you mom and dad, you have supported me through it all. Annie Aldrete (University of Tennessee)

What do Haley's players say?

ANNIE ALDRETE "My experience playing for Haley and Jess was one I will never forget. Both of them are great role models and act as a mentor on and off the field. While we spent countless hours at practice and conditioning getting killed, all the hard work was worth our success throughout the seasons. Being a part of the team Haley and Jess created taught me more than just how to improve my skills. They taught me how to be independent, hardworking, how to compete, and most importantly, how to be a better person. I will always look up to Haley and Jess and I know even though I don't play for them anymore, they will always have an impact on my life."
